Hey!! What's the story?

I don't think I introduced myself...if I did  forgive the repeat

My name is Kari, I began writing as a novelist...but had some  issues with rude  troll behavior and  lost my drive to continue my novel ( my 7th in a series) So to hide out I switched to poetry. So I have been writing poems consistently for two years. I try all kinds and forms but mostly prefer making up my own stuff to just let it flow the way it wants. I hope to become a small time publisher some day. I am 50 years old and in college for the very first time...taking English with an emphasis on creative writing, of course.

I have been hired to work for a lady who also dreams of being a successful publisher. She has two books in the works for her first projects, a short story anthology and a children's story book which I wrote. But she works full time and has three small kids and is recently divorced so her efforts have been slow. BUT when my book is published I will be sure to announce it :P

here is a sample poem of mine

Begging for Rain

eaten or sliced brings the same result

tender flesh ripped away from my soul

my core exposed as waste and refuse

good for nothing at all,

trampled into the mire

a hardened shell of my inner being,

blanketed in filthy soil

withering into my very being

begging for rain from beyond

begging for rain to ease this drought,

begging, begging, begging

release me from this parched existence

release the seed of hope

Title Advice?

Posted by Daniel Hale on December 14, 2015 at 18:29 0 Comments

I just completed, as near as I can tell, my first book: a collection stories disguised as a novel. I do currently have a working title that I was initially happy with, BUT it may now be too obscure or inapplicable.

The title as it is now is "The Psalterdemalion." This is a combination of two of my favorite words: Psalter, which is a small book of psalms, and Tatterdemalion, which is a man dressed in multicolored rags and tatters. My thinking was that the man character, a story thief,…

A Memory Resides In Soho

On the 1st August 2015 a special night had arrived for seventy-five year old Robert Harris and his seventy-two year old wife Barbara.  Robert was nattily dressed in a blue suit and Barbara looked elegant in a long flowing red and black flowery dress. They were in the heart of the…

Final Stretch for my First Project

Posted by Daniel Hale on November 16, 2015 at 2:41 0 Comments

So I've got my stories together for my first collection, and am currently working on the connecting narrative. I haven't even thought yet how I'm gonna get this published. Gotta start thinking what I need to do.

Premonition

Premonition

Mark stood on a sea cliff top. A wave below roared in and sprayed out a ferocious impact. Its retreat left a glistening carpet of foamy shale. To his left, a slender figured girl appeared, dressed only in a skimpy black nightie. Her blonde hair fell over her face. Scarlet lips whispered to him,…
