Today is World #Poetry Day So here are some of mine from over the last 20 years …enjoy Christmas at Christchurch         I feel translucent     a man of marble skin     as if dreaming my motions     every step a tread in water    each reach of my hand     a ghost grip touches     but nothing holds and yet     I clutch these stones and     iron spear barricades     as a sea-snail would the bedrock     for this is my folly     to hug close the masonry of charity     I feel nothing     no remorse…Continue

The Ghost of Saint Anthony Once I was a man like youstrong in the heart and mindNow my spectre drifts the sands of Egypt these sixteencenturiesacross the tombs of Pharaohsfrom Alexandria and the sea into the desert mountainswhere only insects live and hermits come to die No longer do I feel the burning Sun of Purgatory on my bare backno longer does the word of God wet my dry lipsno more do I hope for resurrectionI only pray for eternal sleep to end my torment My shade counts the sands of…Continue

I think I might be beyond help!!

Comment by M. Kari Barr on December 17, 2013 at 7:51

Hello all,

I am Kari and have been writing since 2009, yes I am an addict. But I do not seek help in stopping. I am here for support thanks for having me. :P

Not a fan of long poetry but do not care for Haiku short either...here is most most recent poem entitled

FLUX

Purged, cleansed of all the noise

a canvas awaits my hand

Sky shades

orange, crimson and blue melting into purples

strums and drums beat within my head

and I’m not dead

Rainfall whispered every word I ever said

on paper

torrents carried it all away

words of faith, and words of hope

words meant to cause pain

penned by me in vain

erased and washed in liquid thought

would that I could follow

Time of Love

Memories fade
Loves dying flame
No hopes of re igniting
But deep inside
The flame still hides
And worth the time of fighting

Loves full bloom returns again
It's spirit never dying
So hope again
It's time is near
Not worth the pain of crying

My poem called "Battle plan"

I wake up and start my day I'm prepared
I'm brave, I'm courageous I am not scared

I have a plan, a routine this keeps me alive
Each day is hard but I must survive

Seven years ive been ill but it seems longer
I've passed countless tests and I've become so much stronger

I've developed skills, picked up tips and advice
All of this information will be enough to suffice

I'm battle hardened there will be no submission
I was meant to get through this because I'm on a mission

My routine is pristine because it's spick and span
I make no mistakes with my Battle plan

It's true I have scars of war and strife
This war with my illness may take the rest of my life

I've won back my life this is what I've achieved
But this would not have been possible without the support I've received

Each day is the same it always commences
I've developed so much strength and mastered my senses

I'm programmed to keep fighting its burnt into my mind
This is vital to my progress and stops me lagging behind

There are no backward steps and there will be no hold-up
The key to my survival is NEVER GIVE UP!!!

In Zombia

I shuffle like a bad movie extra

around the cold dark kitchen

you know the type of place

written by a hack and furnished by a ham

only an orange street light illuminates monsters

a devildog from the toaster’s shadow and a

scaly gremlin in the sink of dirty dishes

the soundtrack is provided by

a not-too-distant motorway strip

wailing banshee-like and the refrigerator

humming mindlessly because he has

nothing left to say to me after all these years

This is the realm of the lidless eyes

where the Sandman

like an evil Santa Claws stealing the gifts of

drowsiness and yawns leaps from rooftop to

rooftop keeping you alert for fear

downing warm milk and hoping for good dreams

dire dreams

any dreams

even mares with flames and toasters behind

I pack my eyeballs off to the bedroom

where the sheets have somehow pulled themselves

back in a sarcastically smug manner

and facedown flop into the soft infuriating

fluffy madness

Title Advice?

Posted by Daniel Hale on December 14, 2015 at 18:29 0 Comments

I just completed, as near as I can tell, my first book: a collection stories disguised as a novel. I do currently have a working title that I was initially happy with, BUT it may now be too obscure or inapplicable.

The title as it is now is "The Psalterdemalion." This is a combination of two of my favorite words: Psalter, which is a small book of psalms, and Tatterdemalion, which is a man dressed in multicolored rags and tatters. My thinking was that the man character, a story thief,…

Final Stretch for my First Project

So I've got my stories together for my first collection, and am currently working on the connecting narrative. I haven't even thought yet how I'm gonna get this published. Gotta start thinking what I need to do.

Premonition

Premonition

Mark stood on a sea cliff top. A wave below roared in and sprayed out a ferocious impact. Its retreat left a glistening carpet of foamy shale. To his left, a slender figured girl appeared, dressed only in a skimpy black nightie. Her blonde…
