Hey!! What's the story?

This prompt is to see how you handle action scenes, with a twist. A thing that can make action scenes much more interesting (for me) is the use of unconventional objects. So I picked a number of random objects around the house to be use in this prompt. The goal is to write an action scene that uses all of these objects, which are: a porcelain teapot (empty), a metal locket (with a picture of choice), a refrigerator (full), a Nintendo Wii remote, and a pillow (feather stuffing).

You can add others but these 5 object must all be explicitly mentioned in the scene; they don’t necessarily need to be a weapon (bonus point if they are). There are no limits to the genre and setting but keep in mind that I’m looking for and action scene, so fast paced and most likely violence. Try to be as creative as you can get, surprise me.

Like always the scene should be around 500 words and doesn’t necessarily have to be complete. (beginnings, endings, mid-scenes, prologues, any scene will do.) You can always ask me questions.

 Happy writing

Title Advice?

Posted by Daniel Hale on December 14, 2015 at 18:29 0 Comments

I just completed, as near as I can tell, my first book: a collection stories disguised as a novel. I do currently have a working title that I was initially happy with, BUT it may now be too obscure or inapplicable.

The title as it is now is "The Psalterdemalion." This is a combination of two of my favorite words: Psalter, which is a small book of psalms, and Tatterdemalion, which is a man dressed in multicolored rags and tatters. My thinking was that the man character, a story thief,…

So I've got my stories together for my first collection, and am currently working on the connecting narrative. I haven't even thought yet how I'm gonna get this published. Gotta start thinking what I need to do.

Premonition

Mark stood on a sea cliff top. A wave below roared in and sprayed out a ferocious impact. Its retreat left a glistening carpet of foamy shale. To his left, a slender figured girl appeared, dressed only in a skimpy black nightie. Her blonde…
