Hey!! What's the story?

The Rules

· The entrant must be 18 years or older at the date of the competition entry.

· The competition is open to non-members and members of 99fiction.net.

· Entries must be in English.

· Entries must be the work of the entrant and must not have been published or accepted for publication elsewhere.

· Entries may have appeared online in private (password protected) peer review sites, but should not have been published on 99fiction.net or any commercial online form including blogs or personal websites.

· The competition is international.

· Copyright remains with the author(s). Co-written stories must have the approval of each co-writer prior to submission to 99fiction.net.

· The author will be giving publication rights to 99fiction.net to allow their story to be published on 99fiction.net and any other associated website should they win, make the reserves or be short-listed.

· The decision of the judge(s) is final.

· The closing date for entries is 7.00pm (EDT)/midnight (BST) on the closing date listed on the competition schedule. Any entries missing the deadline will automatically be entered into the next competition.

· The winner will be notified by 99fiction.net by email. We hope the winner will not disclose until it is announced on 99fiction.net.

· The result of the competition and story will be published on the 99fiction.net social network and any other related website(s) connected with 99fiction.net at 2.00pm (EDT)/7.00pm (BST) on the date listed on the competition schedule. In addition, a link will be sent at the same time from 99fiction’s twitter account @99fiction.

· A link to the winning story will be tweeted from this date for approximately one week from the result being announced. The number of tweets may vary at the discretion of 99fiction.net administrator(s). Additional links may be sent periodically to highlight the story. 

· The winner can include any promotional links on 99fiction.net website(s) to their own 99fiction.net profile/website/blog/twitter profile or other at the discretion of 99fiction.net administrator(s).

· The winner will receive an email gift card from Amazon.com or Flipkart.com to the value of $25.00 (US or equivalent currency of choice) and sent by email to the winner.

· The winner must make contact with 99fiction.net administrator(s) within one month to claim the prize otherwise the prize will be forfeited. No prize will be paid after one month unless at discretion of 99fiction.net administrator(s). 

· A small number of reserves and short listed will be chosen by the judges. These stories will be published on 99fiction.net. Those selected can include any promotional links on 99fiction.net website(s) to their own 99fiction.net profile/website/blog/twitter profile or other at the discretion of 99fiction.net administrator(s). No payment will be paid for those subsequently published.

· Additional stories may be selected for publication by 99fiction.net on their website(s) after the winner is announced to help promote the author. Approval will be requested by 99fiction.net administrator(s) prior to any publication. No payment will be paid for those subsequently published.

· In the body of the email please ensure that you include the title of your story, the word count and your name (if different from your 99fiction.net profile name). Also, please include your twitter address (if applicable) and any promotional links (if applicable).

· Only submissions which are within the 99-word limit will be accepted. This means any story up to and including 99 words. Hyphenated words will be treated as one word. No limit to the number of entries per person.

· The title does not form part of the word count.

· No corrections will be accepted.

· Entries not complying with the competition rules will be disqualified. 99fiction.net administrator(s) reserve the right to disqualify any entry without notice or reason.

- Members and non-members of 99fiction.net can send an email to fictioncomp@yahoo.com or alternatively, members can send an email internally to the Brooklyn Competition Monster.

- 99fiction.net administrator(s) reserve the right to change the competition rules (‘The Rules’) at any time without prior notice.

External links are selected and reviewed when the page is published. However, 99fiction.net is not responsible for the content of external websites. This is because:

  • 99fiction.net does not produce them or maintain/update them
  • 99fiction.net cannot change them

I just completed, as near as I can tell, my first book: a collection stories disguised as a novel. I do currently have a working title that I was initially happy with, BUT it may now be too obscure or inapplicable.
