Hey!! What's the story?
The empty box just sat there, waiting to be filled. He had tried giving it his fossil collection, his stamps, even his precious photos but none of them belonged there and he had taken them out again. Over the years he would catch sight of that box, still sitting there in the corner of the attic amongst the other boxes all filled with who-knew-what junk from years past. He had never been able to throw it out and for some reason neither had his parents. It was patient though. It was happy to wait. When his parents died, he moved back home bringing his wife and young son with him. They refurbished and redecorated, tossed out everything that wasn't needed. They dragged out the boxes from the attic and chucked them in the skip not even bothering to look inside. If no one had touched them for years then they weren't needed; their photos and documents lived online, in clouds that floated around them. Anything else was just clutter. They emptied the loft but still the box remained. One day the little boy made his way up into the loft, looking for a place to hide. He saw the box and climbed in. The box was no longer empty. Its wait for a keepsake was over.
